Greg Belyea Looks Back on 2013 Season That Included Six Feature Wins; Looks Ahead to 2014 With Goals of Re-Capturing Brighton Championship

Despite a relatively slow start to the season that began back in February Bubba’s Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida, Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Service Late Model team still posted solid numbers in 2013, including six feature wins.

Belyea did have several great moments during the turbulent season. In addition to the six feature wins, Belyea also finished second in the Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway, which has grown to be one of the biggest events of the season. Belyea was also instrumental in putting on the Great Crate Race event, as well as the debut of the World of Outlaw Late Models at Brighton Speedway back in June.

“We had some exciting moments this season, both in the car, and out”, says Belyea after reflecting back on the season. “We were fortunate enough to be a part of a couple very big events here at Brighton Speedway along with the Rinaldi family, and we were happy to be a part of it”.

Belyea is currently rebuilding for the 2014 season, with plans to compete weekly at Brighton Speedway as well as other select events at other tracks as time permits, including some events with the Go Nuclear Late Model Series.

Greg Belyea Scores Third Consecutive 2nd Place Finish in Go Nuclear Late Model Excel Tower North Division Season Finale at Brockville Speedway

After scoring back to back second place finishes in his last two events, Greg Belyea and the Excel Tower Racing team was looking to finish one position better as they traveled to Brockville Speedway for the final race in the Go Nuclear Excel Tower North Division.

Belyea had a strong day, winning his qualifying heat race and pressed for the lead on the outside of the track through numerous restarts to no avail in the 35 lap main event, and would settle for his third straight runner-up finish to end the 2013 season.

“This year was a struggle all season, but we finally got things turned around in the second half”, says Belyea after the race. “These last few races have been really good, and its unfortunate that the season is over”.

With the 2013 season over, Belyea will now regroup and get ready for 2014. He plans to race at Brighton Speedway on Saturday nights, and continue to run in other select events as time permits.

“I really have to thank my wife Shari, and all of my family for their support throughout the year”, says Belyea. “I also want to thank my crew chief Steve Blight for all his hard work this year and everyone that has helped us out during the season, it has been a lot of fun, and I look forward to next year”.

Greg Belyea Battles to an Impressive Second Place Finish in Third Annual Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night

This past weekend, Greg Belyea attended the final event of the season at his home track Brighton Speedway. It was the 3rd annual Great Crate Race, with a lot of prestige, as well as a $5000 winners share on the line. Belyea was looking to become the first Brighton Speedway regular to win this event.

The night started off with qualifying heat races, and Greg started from the front row. It was a struggle early and crossed the finish line in fourth place, just outside of a redraw position. In the 65 lap main event, Greg started from 15th and progressively worked his way forward. Belyea charged towards the front and would use the extreme high side of the Speedway to take the lead on lap 47 using lapped traffic to his advantage. He dropped back to second just a few laps later on lap 62 and remained there through the finish of the event. Chuck Meyers, the defending race winner was also back in an Excel Tower Service owned car for this event. He started the race in 13th place and finished in 7th.

“That was one of the most exciting races that I have been a part of in a long time”, explains Belyea after the race. “I really have to thank my wife Shari, Steve Blight, Rob Perry and everyone else that has helped us out this year with the Excel Tower Racing team”.

The next race on the schedule for Greg Belyea will come on Sunday, October 20th for the final race in the Go Nuclear Series Excel Tower North Division. This event will be part of the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals Weekend.

Greg Belyea Looking for Strong Performance as 3rd Annual Great Crate Race Hits Brighton Speedway This Saturday Night

With the Great Crate Race on tap for this weekend after getting postponed earlier this month, Greg Belyea and the Excel Tower Service racing team are looking forward to this third annual event. Optimism is high going into this year’s race, as Belyea hopes to become the first Brighton Speedway regular to win the $5000 event that has total purse in excess of $20000.

With mixed results in the two previous Great Crate Race events, Belyea is hoping third time is a charm. Greg posted a second place finish in the inaugural race in 2011, but last years Great Crate Race ended in disappointment with an early exit out of the event. Last year’s race winner Chuck Meyers was piloting an Excel Tower Service car, which leaves Belyea with some added confidence going into the weekend. He will also have Meyers back in an Excel Tower car once again this year looking to repeat as race winner, while Belyea himself will be piloting a car that has just returned from the race shop of Chub Frank.

“This is one of our biggest events of the season and I know a lot of us Late Model drivers here at Brighton are really looking forward to this”, says Belyea. “This will be the third season and we have yet to have a Brighton Speedway regular take the win. We know that we have a car capable of winning this race, we proved that last year, now we just need to have a strong performance, and a little luck”.

Following Saturday night’s event at Brighton Speedway, the team will have some time off before ending the 2013 season at Brockville Speedway on October 20th as part of the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals. Both the Brighton race this weekend and the Brockville race next month are part of the Go Nuclear Late Model Series Excel Tower North Division.

Greg Belyea Gets Second Place Finish on Sunday at Mohawk International Raceway; Final Points Night and Great Crate Race Coming up at Brighton

A scheduled two-day weekend event at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York quickly turned into three days as Mother Nature made her presence known most of the afternoon on Friday with a steady drizzle, forcing track officials to postpone Friday night’s events to Sunday afternoon.

Saturday’s event featured a 40 lap main event as part of the Excel Tower Northern Division for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series. Belyea timed fastest in his time trial group, and started his heat race from third place. He finished the qualifier in fourth place, just missing the redraw. Greg started the feature race from 10th place, and fought handling issues throughout the race, finishing 13th.

“That was a disappointing run tonight”, commented Belyea after the race. “We just over-adjusted the car and battled all night. We will work on it and hopefully we will have better results tomorrow”.

Sunday was a new day, and Belyea was hopeful that the changes they made would be in the right direction. He started sixth in his qualifying heat race, and quickly moved forward and crossed the line with a solid second place result, making the redraw. Greg started the main event from third place, and was running in second for much of the 25 lap event. On lap 19, the leader tangled with a lapped car, causing significant damage to the handling of his car, and this opened the door for Belyea as he battled for the lead in the late stages of the event. A second place finish was the end result, ending the weekend on a positive note.

“All in all it was a good day for us”, says Belyea. “We were able to lead some laps, but in the end we just got beat by a faster car. We will take it and move on to the next couple weeks with some big events at Brighton”.

This coming Saturday night is the final points night at Brighton Speedway and will be part of the annual Applefest Weekend. The following Saturday, September 28th is the rescheduled Great Crate Race, paying $5000 to win with a total purse in excess of $20000.

Greg Belyea Looking for Strong Performance as 3rd Annual Great Crate Race Hits Brighton Speedway This Saturday Night

The 2013 racing season has had plenty of highs and lows for Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team. The year started out slow, but the team did rebound and has posted six feature wins over the second half of the season, including two wins at Brighton Speedway. Entering the final few weeks of the season, Belyea is looking for a strong finish, with some major evens coming up.

This coming Saturday night, Belyea will be at Brighton Speedway for the 3rd annual Great Crate Race. With mixed results in the two previous Great Crate Race events, Belyea is hoping third time is a charm with $5000 to win and a total purse in excess of $20000 up for grabs. Greg posted a second place finish in the inaugural event in 2011, but last years race ended in disappointment with an early exit out of the event.

Following Saturday night’s event at Brighton Speedway, the team will then hit the road to Mohawk International Raceway for a pair of Go Nuclear Late Model Series races on Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th. The 2013 season will conclude at Brighton Speedway on Saturday, September 21st as part of the annual Applefest Weekend. Brockville Speedway hosts the Go Nuclear Season finale on Sunday, October 20th.

Greg Belyea Wins Late Model Exhibition Event on the Blacktop at Kawartha Speedway on Sunday Afternoon; 10th Place Finish at Brighton on Saturday

It was an interesting weekend for Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Service Racing team. In addition to their weekly visit to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night, Belyea also participated in a 15 lap exhibition race on the pavement at Kawartha Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

At Brighton Speedway on Saturday night, Belyea started the night with a strong win in his qualifying heat race after starting from the fourth position. In the 25 lap main event, Greg started from the front row and was confident that it would be a good night. At the drop of the green flag, he jumped out to the early lead, holding the top spot for the first eight laps. Over the next few laps, the handling on Belyea’s car began to go away, and he slid back to finish in 10th place.

Belyea, and eight other Brighton Speedway Late Models made the trip to Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario on Sunday afternoon for the first time ever on the pavement. Kawartha hosted a 15 lap exhibition race for the Late Models, and Belyea started from the third position and quickly jumped out to the lead from the start. The only caution came on lap four, and Belyea picked up where he left off, going unchallenged for the remainder of the race.

“It was different, and a lot of fun”, says Belyea of the experience. “I will stick to the dirt track racing though, and hopefully we can get our car working good for next weekend”.

Belyea will be at Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night and will return to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night looking to get back to victory lane and inch his way closer to a top five spot in the point standings.

Greg Belyea Returns to Victory Lane at Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday Night; Top Ten Finish at Brighton Speedway on Saturday Night

It was another busy weekend for Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team as they made their way to Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night before returning home for Brighton Speedway’s events on Saturday night.

At Can Am, Belyea started the feature from the third starting spot and quickly jumped out to the lead. He was able to pull away to a comfortable lead as the cars behind him battled for second. Greg crossed the line in first place, picking up his second consecutive Can Am Motorsports Park victory.

At Brighton Speedway, Belyea entered the night with wins in two of his last three starts, and was hoping to pick up another win on Saturday night. He started fourth in his qualifying heat race, and maintained that position through to the finish. He reported to the pit area for some adjustments before getting ready for the feature. Starting from 12th place, Belyea was aware that it was going to be tough, but he was looking forward to the challenge. By the halfway point he was up to seventh place, but fell back to ninth as the handling started to dissipate over the final few laps.

“We had a good start to the weekend at Can AM, but just can’t seem to get consistent finishes here at Brighton”, says Belyea after the race on Saturday night at Brighton Speedway. “We will continue to work hard and get this car figured out”.

Belyea will return to Brighton Speedway again this coming Saturday night, looking to get back to victory lane once again and narrow the deficit between himself and the top five in the point standings. There is plenty of racing left before the end of the season and Belyea hopes to post more wins and solid finishes and climb back into the top five.

Greg Belyea Gets Second Brighton Speedway Win of 2013 on Saturday Night

Much like the 2012 season, Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team have turned the corner and have been having some great success in the second half of the season after a slow start to the year. He has posted wins the past two weekends, claiming a win at Brighton just two weeks earlier, and a win last weekend at Can Am Motorsports Park. Belyea returned to action this week at Brighton Speedway looking to add to his season win totals.

Belyea started the night with a win in his qualifier, advancing from his fourth place starting spot. In the main event, Greg grabbed the lead on lap two and never looked back, picking up his second win of the season in dominating fashion, with second place finishing a full straightaway behind him. The win moves Belyea to seventh in the Brighton Speedway Late Model point standings.

“It feels great to get back to victory lane again this week”, says Belyea after the race. “I really have to thank my wife Shari and the rest of my family, as well as the guys working on the car. I also have to thank the fans for coming out and supporting what we do each week”.

Belyea will be back at Brighton Speedway again this coming Saturday night, looking to get back to victory lane once again and narrow the deficit between himself and the top five in the point standings. There is plenty of racing left before the end of the season and Belyea hopes to post more wins and solid finishes and climb back into the top five.

Greg Belyea Gets Back to Victory Lane With Impressive Win at Can Am Motorsports Park; Disappointing 13th Place Finish at Brighton Speedway

After getting his first win of the 2013 season last weekend at Brighton Speedway, Belyea was hoping to continue that success again this past weekend. Belyea made the trip to Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night, before returning back home and getting the car ready for Brighton Speedway on Saturday night.

At Can Am on Friday night, Belyea started the feature from inside of row two in the third starting spot. At the drop of the green flag he quickly moved forward and picked up the lead. As the race progressed, he stretched his lead and crossed the finish line with his second consecutive victory and first at Can Am Motorsports Park since June of 2011.

Brighton Speedway was up next on Belyea’s schedule, and after winning last week, he was hopeful that they had finally turned the corner, and would have a strong second half to the season. The night started off well as he moved from his fifth place starting spot in his qualifying heat race to take the win. He started 12th in the main event, but the car just did not respond like it did last week, and he struggled to a disappointing 13th place finish.

This coming weekend, Belyea will be back at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night. He is currently eighth place in the point standings for the Late Model division.

Greg Belyea Brings Home First Win of the Season at Brighton Speedway as Excel Tower Toy Drive Brings Over 300 Toys and $250 in Donations

The 2013 season certainly hasn’t gone as expected for Greg Belyea and the Excel Tower Service race team. Belyea has struggled since the beginning of the season, and has been working hard trying to get their program turned around.

Belyea started the night with a win in his qualifying heat race, and started the main event from the fourth starting spot. He quickly moved into the lead, and withstood a couple of challenges to score his first win of the season. Much like the 2012 season, Belyea got his first win mid season, and once he did, he started on a roll that consisted of five feature wins over a nine race period that nearly put him back into championship contention.

“We have worked hard getting this car sorted out, and it definitely helped having Chub (Frank) up here driving the car and helping with the setup”, says Belyea. “Hopefully we can continue to have some success over the second half of the season. I also want the thank my wife Shari for all her support as well as the fans and drivers that helped contribute toys and donations to our Excel Tower Service Toy Drive tonight”.

Greg Belyea and the Excel Tower Service team will be back in action again this Saturday night at Brighton Speedway as Belyea looks to make it two wins in a row and move up from his current eighth place position in track points.

Greg Belyea Has Busy Weekend With World of Outlaw Late Model and Go Nuclear Late Model Series Races; Chub Frank Wins at Mohawk Raceway in Excel Tower Service Late Model

This past week was a very busy and monumental week for Greg Belyea and the Excel Tower Service team. The weekend started at Brighton Speedway on Thursday night as Greg Belyea drove in the first annual Excel Tower 50 World of Outlaw Late Model Series race at Brighton Speedway in a car owned by Late Model legend Chub Frank. On Friday and Saturday night, Belyea returned the favor, putting the driver known as “Chubzilla” into an Excel Tower Service Crate Late Model for Go Nuclear Series races at Mohawk International Raceway and Brockville Speedway. Belyea returned to the cockpit of the Chub Frank car on Sunday night, concluding the very hectic weekend.

The planning for the Excel Tower 50 Late Model Race at Brighton Speedway was in the works for months and it finally came to fruition on Thursday night. 34 Late Models were on hand for the inaugural event. Greg qualified into the A-Main through the consolation race, and started deep in the 24 car field for the 50 lap main event. As the dust settled at the end of the night, Belyea crossed the finish line in 19th place.

“It is just a tough field of cars here with these Outlaw guys here. It really is exciting having them all here at our own track”, commented Belyea after the race. “I really enjoyed being a part of it, and I hope that everyone that came out had a great night”.

The action moved to Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York on Friday night as Belyea and Chub Frank both competed in Excel Tower Service Late Models in the Go Nuclear Series race. The night started off great as both drivers took wins in their respective qualifying heat races. Chub started on the front row and dominated the entire event, scoring his first ever victory in the Go Nuclear Series. Belyea finished in seventh place.

The Go Nuclear Series resumed on Saturday night at Brockville Speedway and once again both Belyea and Chub Frank were on hand. For the second night in a row, Belyea won his qualifying heat race. Chub finished fourth in his qualifier, giving both drivers a qualifying spot into the main event. Chub battled his way towards the front of the field and challenged for the lead at times, but the car faded over the final few laps and he would finish in third place, just one spot ahead of Belyea.

The World of Outlaw Late Models were back in action at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night. Belyea was back behind the wheel of Chub Frank Late Model, while Lee Ladouceur made his first ever Late Model start driving an Excel Tower Service car. Belyea once again qualified for the A-main and finished 17th, while Ladouceur had a fantastic maiden voyage, placing in 16th.

This coming weekend Belyea will be back at Brighton Speedway for their annual Canada Day Championship event. The next race in the Go Nuclear Excel Tower North Division Series will take place on Saturday, September 7th at Brighton Speedway for the 3rd Annual Great Crate Race.

Greg Belyea Looking Ahead to Busy Week of Racing; Struggling to Find Early Season Success at Brighton Speedway

The 2013 racing season hasn’t started off as well as Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Service team had hoped. They have struggled early in the season, and despite a lot of hard work in the shop, they continue to have a hard time. Perhaps it’s the new clay surface at Brighton that race teams are having a hard time with, or the crazy weather patterns or a combination of the two, but one thing is certain and that is Belyea and the Excel Tower Service Late Model team will continue to work hard.

This past weekend, Belyea returned to Brighton Speedway after a week off due to the first rainout of the season the previous week. He started second in his qualifying heat race, and led the race the entire distance until the final lap, and had to settle for a second place finish. In the 35 lap feature, he started from the outside of the front row, and things were looking up, as he held the lead for the first ten laps of the race. He fell back to third and was holing his own until he jumped a very high cushion on the outside of the track, and fell back through the field. With five laps to go, Belyea pulled into the pits, ending another disappointing night at Brighton Speedway.

“Our car was way too tight from the center of the corner off, and it got worse as the race progressed”, says Belyea. “The track was in rough shape because of all this rain that we have been having, and it has caused issues for everyone. There was a lot of torn up equipment tonight, and we are happy that we were able to escape with minimal damage”.

This coming weekend will be the start of a very busy week for Belyea and the Excel Tower Racing team. They will be at Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night, and Brighton Speedway on Saturday. Next week will see five straight nights of racing with Can Am Motorsports Park on Wednesday, and the much anticipated World of Outlaw Late Model Race at Brighton Speedway on Thursday with Belyea driving a Chub Frank owned Late Model in the Excel Tower 50. Friday night will be a Go Nuclear Late Model Series race at Mohawk International Raceway and again on Saturday night at Brockville and Chub Frank will be in an Excel Tower Service Crate Late Model, and then Belyea will return to the WoO Late Model at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night.

Greg Belyea Gets Back on Track in 2013 With Solid Third Place Finish at Can Am Motorsports Park; Brighton Speedway Suffers First Rainout of the Season

In an effort to get his 2013 season back on track after struggling in the early part of the season, Greg Belyea diverted from the ordinary routine and made a rare start at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports on Friday night before returning home to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night.

Having to start from the rear of the field in the Late Model main event due to the track handicapping for non regular competitors, Belyea knew it would be a good challenge for the team to make their way to the front. He moved forward at the drop of the green flag and was soon challenging for a top five position. At the checkered flag, Belyea crossed the finish line with a solid third place run.

“It was a good run for us tonight”, says Belyea after the race. “We brought the car home with a good finish and hopefully we can build on this throughout the season”.

After making some changes to the car and putting in the setup for Brighton Speedway, they were ready to return to their home track looking for another strong run. Just before race time though, rain began to fall and track officials were forced to cancel their racing program for the night.

Belyea will return to Brighton Speedway this coming Saturday night, but looking ahead, the month of June will be a very busy month for Belyea and the Excel Tower team. Wednesday June 19th they will be at Can Am Motorsports Park, followed by the highly anticipated World of Outlaw Late Model Excel Tower 50 at Brighton Speedway on Thursday, June 20th. Friday, June 21st is reserved as a raindate for the Brighton race. On Saturday, June 22nd the Late Models will be at Brockville Speedway for a Go Nuclear Late Model Series race, and back with the World of Outlaws on Sunday, June 23rd at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Greg Belyea’s Early Season Struggles Continue at Brighton Speedway; Will Return This Saturday Night Looking for Better Results

It is almost like déjà vu for Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team. Looking back at the 2012 results, Belyea struggled in the early part of the season before coming on strong in the second half. Here we are again just three events into the 2013 season at Brighton Speedway and Belyea has struggled. The team is certainly not complacent with the car and have made wholesale changes each week, trying to get things turned around.

After issues with the car for the third week in a row, Belyea has sent the car to Pennsylvania to have legendary Late Model driver Chub Frank and his team have a look at the car to determine what the issues are. The other car remains in Belyea’s shop while the team continues to tweak on it in hopes to get it much better before they head back to Brighton Speedway this Saturday night.

“It has really been a struggle so far this season, but we are working hard to get the car back to where we need it to be”, says Belyea. “We have great cars, and great equipment, and we will do whatever we need to do get these early season issues worked out and get back on top of the game”.

Belyea had hoped to attend the Go Nuclear Late Model Series events held this past week at Humberstone Speedway and Can Am Motorsports Park, but work commitments kept him on the sidelines. He will return to the drivers seat this Saturday at Brighton Speedway.

Greg Belyea Has a Tough Night at Brighton Speedway; Busy Week Ahead With Start of Go Nuclear Late Model Series

After a sixth place finish on opening night at Brighton Speedway, Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Service team were looking forward to returning to the track, hoping to better the opening night performance and contend for their first win of the 2013 season.

The night didn’t start off well for Belyea, after starting from fifth in his qualifying heat race, he spun to avoid several other cars that tangled on the track in front of him. He restarted the race from the rear of the field and made it back up to fifth before the checkered flag. After the heat race, Belyea and the team made major changes to the car to try and get the car dialed in better for the feature. He lined up from fifth place, but after three laps, he was still unhappy with how the car was working, and took advantage of an early caution to come into the pits for another quick adjustment. The adjustment didn’t work, and while being marred deep in the field, the car was taking a beating from some aggressive driving by others, and he made a decision to park the car for the night.

“It was a frustrating night to say the least”, says Belyea. “We made wholesale changes after the heat race and more changes under an early caution in the feature, and the car would not respond. We will be back here next week with a different car, and hopefully we will have a better night”.

It will be a busy week for Belyea and the Excel Tower Team. They will be back at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night, then off to Humberstone Speedway on Sunday for the first race in the South Division Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series. On Wednesday night, Greg will be at Can Am Motorsports Park for the first race in the Excel Tower Service Northern Division Go Nuclear Series.

Greg Belyea Starts 2013 Season at Brighton Speedway With a 6th Place Finish

Saturday was a perfect day for racing as Brighton Speedway opened their doors for the 2013 season. Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team were on hand, looking to get the year started off strong. Before the races got underway, Brighton Speedway competitors participated in the annual parade of champions in downtown Brighton, before making their way to the track.

The evening started well for Belyea, after his wife Shari picked the number one spot in the pre-race draw for heat race starting positions. Belyea took advantage of that, and led the entire distance to take home the heat race win. Belyea started the feature from the front row as well, leading the initial seven laps of the race. When the dust settled, Belyea crossed the finish line with a sixth place result.

“The new clay that was laid down here at Brighton Speedway over the off-season is tighter than what was there before, and the track was really fast”, commented Belyea after the race. “We over adjusted the car after the heat race, but overall it was a decent run to start the season. We will work on it over the week, and will be better when we get back here next Saturday”.

Belyea will be back at Brighton Speedway this coming Saturday night for round two of the 2013 season. If time allows, Belyea also hopes to get to Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night.

Greg Belyea Gets Second Place Finish to Start the Season at Can Am Motorsports Park; Brighton Speedway Opens This Saturday Night

It was a long night at Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night, but Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Racing team pulled off an impressive second place finish to start the 2013 racing season.

Belyea started the night with a fifth place finish in his preliminary qualifying race, and made some adjustments to the car before getting back on the track for the main event. It was a long night at Can Am with multiple cautions in other divisions, and the Late Model feature started it was well into the early hours of Saturday morning. When the final checkered flag fell, Belyea had drove to a second place finish, making a podium sweep for Brighton Speedway regulars.

“It was a good way to start the season”, claims Belyea. “It really shows how strong the competition is at Brighton when we can come down here and sweep the top three positions here at Can Am”.

This coming week, Belyea will be at his home track, Brighton Speedway as they open their doors for the 2013 season. They will start off in downtown Brighton for the annual parade of champions, before heading to the track for the opening night event.

Greg Belyea Will Get an Early Start to 2013 Season With Trip to Florida to Race in NeSmith Late Model Series at Bubba’s Raceway Park at the End of January

While most race teams in the area are still in hibernation mode in the midst of the off-season, Greg Belyea and his Late Model team are putting the finishing touches on their cars, getting ready to head south at the end of January to compete in the NeSmith Crate Late Model Series at Bubba’s Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida.

Belyea and his team will leave for Florida on January 25th. They will make a stop at Chub Frank’s shop in Bear Lake, Pennsylvania along the way, as the legendary driver looks over the car before they continue their journey to Florida.

Belyea will hit the track for practice at Bubba’s Raceway Park on Monday, January 28th, and will race on January 29th, 30th, 31st and February 1st and 2nd to conclude the five race Florida Speedweeks Tour before making the trip back home to Frankford, Ontario.

“We are really excited to race in the NeSmith Late Model Series in Florida”, says Belyea. “We have been working hard all winter on our car, and we can’t wait to see where we stack up against some of the best Crate Late Model teams around”.

Once Belyea and the Excel Tower Racing team return home from the Florida trip, they will begin preparation for the upcoming season at Brighton Speedway. After finishing third in points in 2012, Greg will be looking to find his way back to the top of the division and regain the championship form that he had in 2011. The team will once again field a limited schedule for Charlie Sandercock in the Excel Tower Racing Sprint Car.
